Stormy weather in the Northwest

Well, its summer but you couldn't tell by looking outside the past couple days. Looks more like October! But, instead of being bummed and letting it go to my head, I thought I would see what kind of images I could capture while out and about.

This first image was shot just before the sun went down across the bay in Anacortes, Washington. Most of the day the sky why ugly overcast and I wasn't even sure if there would be any color breaking through at sunset. But I had never been to the port and so I went anyway. I was lucky to find just a glimspe of color illuminating a portion of the water.
The drive home from Washington was wet and gray, but I really liked the way the clouds were refelcting on the Columbia River, and how calm the waters were. This time of year is usually windy, which is why the wind surfers love it in Hood River, but when the air is still it creates such a nice glasslike surface across the water. This picture was taken from the Vista House overlooking the river just before you get to Multinomah Falls. When you live in Oregon you make the most of what you've got to work with!

Sarah and Chris are expecting their first child any time now this month. They already know its a boy, and its a very exciting time! I was happy and fortunate enough to spend some time with them a couple weeks ago and these images are a few of the moments we were able to capture. I hope you enjoy as much as I did taking them. Congratulations to the new soon to be parents!

Yellowstone National Park

For my son's 13th birthday, I arranged a "vistion quest" type trip for he and I to explore Yellowstone National Park. This was to be a trip where we could spend some father and son time together doing the things we both love to do. We camped. We hiked. We enjoyed the wildlife and beautiful scenery the park has to offer this time of year. He is an avid photographer as well, so we of course spent the majority of our time viewing the park behind our lenses. I have to say that he got of some really good shots as well, many of them better than I did.
